Entering Modica we found Valerio Petralia, Angelo Cavallo and Paolo Segreto, volunteers of “Via delle Collegiate” cultural organization. They want to promote the historical and artistic heritage of the three collegiate churches: San Giorgio, San Pietro, and Santa Maria di Betlem.
“Behind every detail there is a story to understand and disseminate”, Valerio told us.
Their work, however, goes beyond historical research; they’d like to build museums and keep the Modica cultural identity alive, awakening wonder and appreciation. This fortuitous encounter allowed us to do something we’d never done in life, like playing the majestic organ of a main church. And it let us see that each of these collegiate’s is more than a church: it’s a place to meet visitors from around the world, a place of exchange of arts and crafts.
